A payment reaches multiple stages, also called the payment life cycle. Find below the different scenarios and stages.
Refused: The purchase was not accepted. The cardholder sees a decline on the terminal or online. A reason could be not enough funds on the cardholder’s balance.
Canceled: The payment was accepted, but the merchant has canceled (all or a part) of the cardholder’s purchase. A reason could be the goods purchased are no longer in stock.
Captured: The payment was accepted and the money has been deducted from the cardholder’s balance.
Expired: The payment was accepted, but no money has been deducted from the cardholder’s balance. This happens often after seven days.
