How does Cards design work?

If a physical card is being manufactured, a card design has to be submitted. This card design has specific required elements on it that the issuing bank and scheme require. This differs per scheme and product, however the following elements should be present on the card, regardless of the scheme.

  • Card number
  • Cardholder name
  • Expiry date
  • CVC
  • Scheme logo and hologram
  • Issuing Statement
  • Contact details of support team Card Partner.

Besides the required elements, the card design can be created where there are several options and techniques available.

We split these into two main categories:

  • Custom design option: requires a minimum order quantity of 5000 cards to be available. The card partner can create their own artwork and there are some other options available such as chip color, edge printing, several personalisation techniques and a matte or glossy finish of the card. In addition, the card carrier and PIN mailer templates can be customized.
  • Premium design option: requires a minimum quantity of 100.000 cards to be available. Here, the design options and techniques are available for designing the card. The card designs will always be reviewed for approval by the specific scheme before the manufacturing can be started by our card manufacturing partner.
