Why has the shopper not received a refund after an Authorised transaction which is now 'Cancelled' or 'Expired'?

Authorised transactions are not Refunded as Authorisation simply 'blocks' or 'holds' the said amount with the shopper's issuing bank.

A refund is needed when the transaction is Captured and Settled which means funds moved out of the shoppers bank account to Adyen which is not the case here. Once this authorisation expires or is cancelled by the merchant, the issuing bank automatically releases these funds back to the shopper.

This process can take up to a week in some cases and for further information the shopper must reach out to their issuing bank.
